How often should I change out my toothbrush?
It’s recommended to either get a new manual toothbrush or change out the head of your electric toothbrush every three months, whenever you notice that the bristles are beginning to fray, or after you’ve gotten sick. This will keep bacteria from accumulating on the head of your brush and prevent gum damage.
Is it really necessary to floss my teeth every day?
Yes! Food debris attracts harmful oral bacteria that are known to cause decay and gum disease. By flossing daily, you can help control the bacteria in your mouth and maintain good oral health.
Am I a good candidate for dental implants?
Although dental implants are such a popular tooth replacement treatment, they’re not always for everybody. Some patients who may not be good candidates for the procedure include those who have uncontrolled autoimmune disorders, jawbone deterioration that can’t be addressed with a bone graft, or poor oral habits that could cause implant failure. To learn whether we can help you get on the right track towards becoming a good candidate for the procedure, please call our dental office and schedule a consultation today!
Are same-day crowns just as well-made as crowns made in a dental laboratory?
Yes! Dr. Nguyen enjoys putting his experience and expertise as a sculptor to practice by crafting beautiful, custom-made restorations in-office using our advanced CEREC technology. They’re durable, long-lasting, and perfectly fitted to your unique dental structure.
My child has a lip or tongue-tie. Can you help?
We offer comfortable, safe, and precise frenectomies using our DEKA CO2 soft tissue laser. It allows us to gently remove overgrown tissue that’s making it difficult for your baby to latch while breastfeeding, providing them with full mobility of their tongue and lips.
At what age should I bring my child to their first dental appointment?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends bringing your little one in for their first dental appointment by the time their first tooth emerges, or by their first birthday. These early visits allow our team to build a positive relationship with your child so they can look forward to visiting the dentist later on. They also allow us to make sure that their mouth is developing properly.
I’m unhappy with dental work I got from another dentist. Can you help fix it?
Our experienced team at Distinctive Dentistry by Mullens & Nguyen regularly see patients who have received dental work in the past that they’re unhappy with. We take the time to listen to our patients wishes and concerns and create treatment plans that will make them happy and fit their unique needs, which isn’t always the case if you visit a corporate dental office who’s only focused on seeing as many patients as possible. We have a systematic approach and an eye for detail that allows us to create exceptional dental results you can trust.
